Your message was a welcome delight, thank you for the kindness sent. Even though most times I don’t feel deserving of it, it is always good to know there are still people in this world trying to make positive changes and instill a sense of hope when circumstances make someone feel there is none.

Certainly birthdays offer a unique opportunity for reflection, but so does having nothing but time on your hands. Nevertheless, your comment sparked some interesting thoughts on what the future could hold. Especially if the strength, dignity and sense of hope remain with one.

With the tragic –and for me as well as others here– traumatic death of my neighbor and friend Micah not even two weeks ago this 44th birthday of mine felt particularly weighty. Like something I should appreciate and savor in full. So each time I received a message from someone wishing me well this birthday, I allowed my heart to take each message in. And so I take yours to heart and may it help in someway to keep my head up and my sense of appreciation for myself alive, helping me to be the best I can be for others as well as myself.

I have this recipe that I’ve been eager to try, it involves instant potatoes, chicken sausage bites, garlic, pepper, salt, chili con queso cheese, whole shabang chips, and ranch. (Hopefully everything goes to according to plan)
